In the absence of his suspended acting president Ibrahim Magu, President Buhari has ordered the EFCC Director of Operations, Mohammed Umar, to take over and oversee the Commission’s operations.
He also approved Ibrahim Magu ‘s immediate suspension as Ag. President of the Committee on Economic and Financial Crimes, to allow for an unrestricted investigation by the Panel under the Tribunals of Inquiry Act and other related legislation.
The statement was released on Friday by Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Special Assistant to Media and Public Relations, Federal Public Prosecutor and Minister of Justice.
He said, ‘President Buhari agreed that Mohammed Umar, EFCC Director of Operations, would assume responsibility and oversee the Commission’s activities until the ongoing investigation and further directions in this regard have been concluded.’
