The Governor of the Khabarovsk region of Russia Sergey Furgal was arrested.
Russian state news agency TASS announced the custody of the governor outside his house.
Furgal, 50, is accused 15 years ago of orchestrated the assassination of a range of entrepreneurs.
Throughout 2004 and 2005, he is called the “organisationer of an attempted assassination and assassination of many businesspeople.”
The allegations were released by Russia ‘s leading investigation agency on Thursday.
The declaration said Furgal would be grilled and formally charged in Moscow.
The Populist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) contested the 2018 election against Vyacheslav Shport, a long-time incumbent.
Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky said that “development is very high.”
Many members of the Furgal crime group are reportedly linked to the death penalty.
The killings were committed in Khabarovsk and the neighbouring Amur region.
