Bayelsa’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command reported that 10 people were killed in a road accident along Tombia-Amassoma road in the state.
On Thursday in Yenagoa, Sector Commander Robert Ogom told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that three individuals were injured in the incident that occurred on Wednesday night.
“A front-on accident was a lorry and a 14-seater bus with 13 passengers on board.
“The impact on the bus was strong and fire was caught and all the passengers were burned. The incident took place at approximately 9 p.m.
“Eight of the passengers were burnt on the spot to ashes, two others were killed at the teaching hospital of the Niger Delta University of Okolobiri.
“By the time our workers arrived at the scene, the truck driver had run away,” he said.
Ogom blamed the collision on a faulty lighting system and both drivers were speeding.
“The drivers should always make sure their vehicles are in order before they reach the lane. They should also stop driving fast and risky, “he advised. (NAN)
