Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, says that no less than 109,823 N-Power System beneficiaries are now business owners.
In a statement issued Saturday in Abuja by her Special Assistant on Strategic Communication, Mrs Halima Oyelade, Farouq said N-Power ‘s Batch A and B beneficiaries had founded businesses in their communities. “Statistics like this gives me joy and once again, I want to say congratulations; I look forward to hearing amazing testimonies and meeting beneficiaries of this programme who will be doing great things in the future,” she said This.
The minister reiterated the dream of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years by creating opportunities to improve Nigerian youth productivity for either entrepreneurship or jobs.
Farouq stressed that the dream was crucial because youth accounted for 70 million of the Nigerian population, while youth unemployment stood at more than 20%, with 4.5 million joining the job market per year.
The minister also told beneficiaries that pending payments would be rendered and transfer plans were underway and on their website would be duly communicated to them. (NAN)-( NAN)
